Το Σαββατοκύριακο 12 και 13 Δεκεμβρίου διεξάγεται ο τελευταίος γύρος του Παγκυπρίου Πρωταθλήματος Ράλι Psaltis/ENEOS. Τον αγώνα διοργανώνει ο Σύνδεσμος Αυτοκινήτου Πάφου και τελεί υπό την αιγίδα της Κυπριακής Ομοσπονδίας Αυτοκινήτου. Το φετινό Ράλι Αφροδίτης περιλαμβάνει οκτώ ειδικές διαδρομές (τέσσερις επαναλαμβανόμενες) συνολικής απόστασης 117,88 αγωνιστικών χιλιομέτρων οι οποίες χωρίζονται σε δύο μέρες και θα γίνουν στην καρδιά του δάσους Πάφου. Πρόκειται για κλασσικές ορεινές διαδρομές οι οποίες έχουν αρκετά μεγάλο βαθμό δυσκολίας και απαιτείται σωστή στρατηγική από τα πληρώματα, καθώς οι συνεχόμενες στροφές εύκολα μπορούν να φέρουν το λάθος που ίσως στοιχίσει αρκετά σε χρόνο.
Το Σάββατο το μεσημέρι θα διεξαχθούν οι ειδικές Ίνια-Νέο Χωριό (11:53) και Αργάκα-Σταυρός (12:36) οι οποίες θα επαναληφθούν το απόγευμα, η πρώτη στις 15:09 και η δεύτερη στις 16:02. Η Κυριακή περιλαμβάνει ακόμα δυο επαναλαμβανόμενες ειδικές, τις Αναδιού-Σταυρός (10:03), Σταυρός-Φράγμα Καναβιού (10:36), οι οποίες θα επαναληφθούν στις 13:14 και 13:47 αντίστοιχα. Το μεγάλο φινάλε της φετινής σεζόν ξεκινά και ολοκληρώνετε από την Πλατεία Δημαρχείου Πάφου όπου θα βρίσκεται η ράμπα εκκίνησης/τερματισμού, με το χώρο εξυπηρέτησης να βρίσκεται στην οδό Γρηγόρη Αυξεντίου.
Ο τελευταίος αγώνας συγκέντρωσε 19 συμμετοχές εκ των οποίων τέσσερα μεικτά πληρώματα, με τον αγώνα να κρίνει και τον φετινό πρωταθλητή. Οι δύο φορές πρωταθλητές Κύπρου Γαλαταριώτης/Ιωάννου με Volkswagen Polo R5 είναι το μεγάλο φαβορί για την κατάκτηση του φετινού πρωταθλήματος. Κύριοι αντίπαλοι στη μάχη του τίτλου είναι οι περσινοί πρωταθλητές Παντελή/Χριστοδούλου με Citroen DS3 R5 αλλά και οι Γιάγκου/Κυριάκου με το Hyundai i20 R5. Στην εξίσωση προσθέτουμε και το πλήρωμα των Τσουλλόφτα/Ηλία με Volkswagen Polo R5, οι οποίοι παρόλο που δεν κυνηγούν τον τίτλο του πρωταθλητή μπορούν να παίξουν καθοριστικό ρόλο στην εξέλιξη του αγώνα αφού είναι ένα από τα φαβορί για τη νίκη.
Στην κατηγορία RC2 το πλήρωμα των Χριστοδούλου/Ξενοφώντος (Subaru Impreza) θέλουν ένα απλό τερματισμό για να κατακτήσουν το πρωτάθλημα. Στην κατηγορία RC4, το πλήρωμα των Χρυσόστομου Παντελή/Θωμά Θεοφάνους (Ford Fiesta) εκτός από νίκη “βολεύονται” και με τερματισμό μέχρι μία θέση πίσω από τους δεύτερους στη βαθμολογία Γιώργο Τανούση/Χριστόδουλο Χριστοδούλου για να εξασφαλίσουν τον τίτλο. Τέλος, στην κατηγορία RCS2, οι Κλεάνθης Έλληνας/Μιχαλάκης Μιχαήλ (Mitsubishi Lancer EVO7) θέλουν ένα απλό τερματισμό για να κατακτήσουν το φετινό πρωτάθλημα.
Χορηγός του αγώνα αλλά και του φετινού Παγκυπρίου Πρωταθλήματος Ράλι είναι η εταιρία ΨΑΛΤΗΣ Ανταλλακτικά και τα λιπαντικά ENEOS.
Εκτός του Ευρωπαϊκού πρωταθλήματος θα είναι φέτος το Ράλι Κύπρος!
Με επίσημη ανακοίνωση του το ERC αντικατέστησε το Cyprus Rally 2020 με το Spa Rally. Δυστυχώς ο αγώνας θα προσμετρά μόνο για το πρωτάθλημα Μέσης Ανατολής και το τοπικό πρωτάθλημα.
Φυσικά είναι προγραμματισμένο να επιστρέψει κανονικά για το 2021. Ευχόμαστε χωρίς αλλαγές!
Επόμενος αγώνας στο φετινό ημερολόγιο του ERC θα είναι το Rally Fafe Montelongo από τις 2-4 Οκτωβρίου, ακολουθούμενο από το Rally Hungary από τις 6-8 Νοεμβρίου και το Rally Islas Canarias (26-28 Νοεμβρίου). Το Spa Rally θα κλείσει τη φετινή σεζόν και θα διεξαχθεί από τις 12-13 Δεκεμβρίου.
The 2020 FIA European Rally Championship is set to be decided on the Spa Rally in Belgium after the event was added to the ERC calendar as the sixth and final round of the current season.
Scheduled to take place from December 12-13, the Spa Rally features stages in and around the famous Belgian Grand Prix venue and will provide an exciting challenge for some of Europe’s top driving talent.
Based in the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps paddock, the event follows Rally Islas Canarias (November 26-28) on the list of 2020 ERC events and marks the championship’s return to Belgium for the first time since 2016.
Jean-Baptiste Ley, the ERC Co-ordinator for promoter Eurosport Events, said: “We have followed the Spa Rally closely for a while now and have always been impressed by the forward-thinking approach, attention to detail and strong organisation and promotion from Christian Jupsin and his team at DG Sport.
“Having discussed the possibility of the Spa Rally joining the ERC previously, it’s very satisfying that those conversations have resulted in the event joining the FIA European Rally Championship calendar for the first time for what promises to be a spectacular finale to the current season.”
Run over a distance of 205.52 kilometres on predominantly sealed-surface stages, the Spa Rally will include the WRX track – used for the Spa World RX of Benelux event in November – on the action-packed itinerary. The mixed-surface course will be combined with internal rounds within the venue to form an epic night stage on December 12. Additional stages take place in the Francorchamps countryside on fast and technical roads with the wintry weather set to be a major factor in the battle for victory.
Christian Jupsin, the Spa Rally promoter, said: “This is a project that we had already discussed in the past. It was not possible then, but the postponement of this year’s Spa Rally from March to December due to COVID-19 restrictions gave us the opportunity to re-enter discussions with Eurosport Events regarding the hosting of an ERC round. I am very happy an agreement has been concluded and it is a great satisfaction and a great recognition for DG Sport and its staff are now also able to organise the final round of the 2020 FIA ERC.
“In collaboration with the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the City of Spa and the municipalities that host the special stages, I can guarantee you that we will put the small dishes in the big ones so that the Spa Rally 2020 is a great rally celebration that will be remembered.”
The Spa Rally replaces the Cyprus Rally on the ERC schedule after it was agreed the Nicosia-based event, a long-term and popular fixture on the European Rally Championship calendar, will count for FIA Middle East and national championship points only in 2020. Eurosport Events and the Cyprus Automobile Association are already discussing the events return to the ERC roster for 2021.
Next up on the ERC schedule is Rally Fafe Montelongo from October 2-4 followed by Rally Hungary from November 6-8 and Rally Islas Canarias (November 26-28).
