Εκτός του Ευρωπαϊκού πρωταθλήματος θα είναι φέτος το Ράλι Κύπρος!

Με επίσημη ανακοίνωση του το ERC αντικατέστησε το Cyprus Rally 2020 με το Spa Rally. Δυστυχώς ο αγώνας θα προσμετρά μόνο για το πρωτάθλημα Μέσης Ανατολής και το τοπικό πρωτάθλημα.

Φυσικά είναι προγραμματισμένο να επιστρέψει κανονικά για το 2021. Ευχόμαστε χωρίς αλλαγές!

Επόμενος αγώνας στο φετινό ημερολόγιο του ERC θα είναι το Rally Fafe Montelongo από τις 2-4 Οκτωβρίου, ακολουθούμενο από το Rally Hungary από τις 6-8 Νοεμβρίου και το Rally Islas Canarias (26-28 Νοεμβρίου). Το Spa Rally θα κλείσει τη φετινή σεζόν και θα διεξαχθεί από τις 12-13 Δεκεμβρίου.

The 2020 FIA European Rally Championship is set to be decided on the Spa Rally in Belgium after the event was added to the ERC calendar as the sixth and final round of the current season.

Scheduled to take place from December 12-13, the Spa Rally features stages in and around the famous Belgian Grand Prix venue and will provide an exciting challenge for some of Europe’s top driving talent.

Based in the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps paddock, the event follows Rally Islas Canarias (November 26-28) on the list of 2020 ERC events and marks the championship’s return to Belgium for the first time since 2016.

Jean-Baptiste Ley, the ERC Co-ordinator for promoter Eurosport Events, said: “We have followed the Spa Rally closely for a while now and have always been impressed by the forward-thinking approach, attention to detail and strong organisation and promotion from Christian Jupsin and his team at DG Sport.

“Having discussed the possibility of the Spa Rally joining the ERC previously, it’s very satisfying that those conversations have resulted in the event joining the FIA European Rally Championship calendar for the first time for what promises to be a spectacular finale to the current season.”

Run over a distance of 205.52 kilometres on predominantly sealed-surface stages, the Spa Rally will include the WRX track – used for the Spa World RX of Benelux event in November – on the action-packed itinerary. The mixed-surface course will be combined with internal rounds within the venue to form an epic night stage on December 12. Additional stages take place in the Francorchamps countryside on fast and technical roads with the wintry weather set to be a major factor in the battle for victory.

Christian Jupsin, the Spa Rally promoter, said: “This is a project that we had already discussed in the past. It was not possible then, but the postponement of this year’s Spa Rally from March to December due to COVID-19 restrictions gave us the opportunity to re-enter discussions with Eurosport Events regarding the hosting of an ERC round. I am very happy an agreement has been concluded and it is a great satisfaction and a great recognition for DG Sport and its staff are now also able to organise the final round of the 2020 FIA ERC.

“In collaboration with the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, the City of Spa and the municipalities that host the special stages, I can guarantee you that we will put the small dishes in the big ones so that the Spa Rally 2020 is a great rally celebration that will be remembered.”

The Spa Rally replaces the Cyprus Rally on the ERC schedule after it was agreed the Nicosia-based event, a long-term and popular fixture on the European Rally Championship calendar, will count for FIA Middle East and national championship points only in 2020. Eurosport Events and the Cyprus Automobile Association are already discussing the events return to the ERC roster for 2021.

Next up on the ERC schedule is Rally Fafe Montelongo from October 2-4 followed by Rally Hungary from November 6-8 and Rally Islas Canarias (November 26-28).

Sebastien Ogier και TOYOTA Gazoo Racing γράφουν ιστορία στο Ράλι Πορτογαλίας

Οι Sébastien Ogier και Vincent Landais, στο τιμόνι ενός Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID, έγραψαν ιστορία στο Ράλι Πορτογαλίας. Πέτυχαν μια δεύτερη διαδοχική νίκη στο φετινό πρωτάθλημα, αλλά και την έκτη στον Πορτογαλικό αγώνα. Ο Ogier έχει πλέον περισσότερες νίκες στο WRC στην Πορτογαλία από οποιονδήποτε άλλο οδηγό, ξεπερνώντας τις πέντε νίκες του Φινλανδού θρύλου Markku Alén. Παράλληλα, η TOYOTA GAZOO Racing World Rally Team κέρδισε τις τελευταίες πέντε διοργανώσεις του αγώνα με τέσσερις διαφορετικούς οδηγούς ενώ, μαζί με την Lancia και την Citroën, είναι οι μόνοι κατασκευαστές που κατάφεραν να πετύχουν οκτώ νίκες στην ιστορία του αγώνα. Ήταν ένας συναρπαστικός αγώνας που κράτησε αμείωτο το ενδιαφέρον μέχρι το τέλος. Οι Sébastien Ogier και Vincent Landais ήταν δεύτεροι με το τέλος της πρώτης μέρας, μόλις ένα δευτερόλεπτο από την κορυφή. Όμως, από το πρωί του Σαββάτου ανέλαβαν τα ηνία για να τερματίσουν την ημέρα με πλεονέκτημα 11,9 δευτερολέπτων.

Το πρωί της Κυριακής, το πλήρωμα αύξησε τη διαφορά από τους αντιπάλους του, παρά τις κακές καιρικές συνθήκες ενώ στη συνέχεια χρησιμοποίησε όλη του την εμπειρία κάνοντας ένα αγώνα τακτικής, ελέγχοντας τους αντιπάλους του. Τελικά κέρδισαν τον αγώνα με μια διαφορά 7,9 δευτερολέπτων.

Οι Elfyn Evans και Scott Martin αντιμετώπισαν προβλήματα με το σύστημα ψύξης, κάτι που τους ανάγκασε να κάνουν οι ίδιοι επισκευές στη διαδρομή. Πήραν τελικά την έκτη θέση γενικής εξασφαλίζοντας μερικούς σημαντικούς βαθμούς για την ομάδα. Παρόλα αυτά παραμένουν στη δεύτερη θέση του πρωταθλήματος των οδηγών.

Ο δύο φορές παγκόσμιος πρωταθλητής Kalle Rovanperä προηγήθηκε μετά την Παρασκευή, αλλά είχαν έξοδο το Σάββατο. Πήραν όμως βαθμούς από τη συμμετοχή τους στην Power Stage. Οι Takamoto Katsuta και Aaron Johnston είχαν ένα πολύ δυνατό ξεκίνημα την Παρασκευή αλλά εγκατέλειψαν το Σάββατο ύστερα από ζημιά στο Toyota GR YARIS Rally1 HYBRID. Επανήλθαν στον αγώνα για την Power Stage παίρνοντας την πέμπτη θέση.

Θα πρέπει να αναφέρουμε ότι η Toyota Gazoo Racing πήρε και την πρώτη της νίκη κατηγορία WRC2 με το νέο αυτοκίνητο GR Yaris Rally2. Οι Jan Solans και Rodrigo Sanjuan (Teo Martín Motorsport) κατέκτησαν την πρώτη θέση με μόλις 3,2 δευτερόλεπτα από τους αντιπάλους τους.

Ο Πρόεδρος της TGR-WRT Akio Toyoda δήλωσε «Συγχαρητήρια στον Séb και τον Vincent για τις δύο συνεχόμενες νίκες τους νίκες σε Πορτογαλία και Κροατία. Ανεξάρτητα από το πόσο δύσκολος ήταν ο αγώνας, ο Seb ήταν πάντα ήρεμος και χαμογελαστός απέναντι στους φιλάθλους. Είμαι ευγνώμων που έχουμε έναν τέτοιο «αληθινό επαγγελματία» οδηγό στην ομάδα μας».

Μετά το τέλος του αγώνα ο Sébastien Ogier δήλωσε μεταξύ άλλων: «Το να παίρνεις άλλη μια νίκη είναι πολύ ωραίο. Είναι ακόμα πιο ωραίο να πετυχαίνεις και ένα ρεκόρ. Ο Markku Alén γιατί για μένα είναι ένας θρύλος και τον σέβομαι πολύ. Ήταν άλλος ένας έντονος αγώνας και δεν υπήρχε στιγμή χαλάρωσης. Νομίζω ότι ο τρόπος που διαχειριστήκαμε σαν ομάδα τον αγώνα ήταν τέλειος.
